The Challenge

Kabar Sulut is a long-running regional news website that has been in continuous production since 2021. As the sole webmaster, I own every technical layer of the site: CMS, infrastructure, domain and SSL, backups, performance, and security. The challenge is sustaining reliable operations for a content-heavy news site over years, through CMS changes, server migrations, and evolving infrastructure needs, without an internal technical team.

My Approach

• Infrastructure Ownership. Provisioned and maintained the full stack: unmanaged VPS setup, custom email, Cloudflare DNS, S3-compatible media storage, and server-level configuration tuned for a high-traffic news workload.
• Migrations. Executed 4 production server migrations and a complete CMS migration from WordPress to Ghost. After evaluating the editorial workflow, I chose Ghost for its cleaner, more writer-friendly dashboard, helping journalists publish independently with less friction while preserving content, URLs, and editorial CMS access.
• Ongoing Operations. Managed CMS version upgrades, theme updates, compatibility checks, domain expiry monitoring, Cloudflare configuration, backup routines, and basic security hardening as continuous responsibilities.

The Outcome

The site has remained stable and continuously operational under independent webmaster ownership across infrastructure, CMS, domain, SSL, security, backup, and performance responsibilities, demonstrating sustained technical ownership of a production website over multiple years.
